Linking to Library Resources

This guide explains how to get permanent URLs to library resources that can be shared via Canvas, email, or other systems.

Finding Permanent URLs in ProQuest Databases

The instructions below will work for most of the over 50 ProQuest databases in the Database A-Z List, as well as for the Alexander Street Press databases that have been moved onto a ProQuest-branded interface. However, some specialized ProQuest databases may have unique interfaces with their own instructions, such as Ancestry Library Online, History Online, History Study Center, Palmer's Full Text Online, and the USC Shoah Foundation's Visual History Archive.

1) Enter your search terms and find the item you want to share. The example below is a search for "housing" in the ProQuest Historical Newspapers: Black Newspapers database:

2) Click on the title of the item you want to share to be taken into the full record:

3) In the top right corner, click "All Options":

The "All Options" button in ProQuest.

4) In the "All save options" box that pops up in the middle of the screen, the permanent URL will display at the top, next to the link icon. Clicking on the link will copy it to the clipboard so it can be pasted and shared.
