Citation Management Tools

This guide will help you learn how to use Endnote, Zotero, and Mendeley, three citation management tools that can help you keep your sources organized and generate citations.

Creating a Reference List

While the Cite While You Write (CWYW) plug-in (see the CWYW tab on the left) allows us to create a reference list from within a Word document, this section shows us how to get the list from within EndNotes.

•    Inside EndNote, click on Tools / Output Style, then check on the desired citation style.

•    Click to select the citations (hold down Ctrl key to select multiple citations, or click Ctrl-A to select all).
•    Right click on the mouse and select ‘Copy Formatted Reference.’

•    Open up a Word document and click ‘Paste.’
