Welcome to your one-stop guide for Zotero. This guide is intended to connect Chapman University students, faculty, and staff with a variety of resources useful for importing and exporting references to the Zotero reference management tool. The tabs on the left side of the screen will help you locate specific resources to guide you in using Zotero for your reference management needs:
Installing Zotero
The Installing Zotero tab provides step-by-step instructions on how you can easily install Zotero and the Zotero Connector on your computer.
Creating your Zotero Account
The Creating Your Zotero Account tab shows you how to register your account and sync data and files so that you can manage your references.
Saving References
The Saving References tab provides step-by-step instructions for importing references from journal databases, library catalogs, and other websites.
Organizing References
The Organizing References tab shows you the features of Zotero which will help to keep your references organized. Zotero allows you to place items into Collections and label them with tags for easy access and retrieval. You can also create notes to add to Collections and individual items.
Attachment Files
Zotero allows you to attach files and links to reference items, which helps you to keep all your research in one place.
Citing Sources with Word Processor Plug-ins
Zotero offers Word Processor Plug-ins for Microsoft Word and LibreOffice which automatically generate bibliographies, in-text citations, and footnotes directly from your document.
Help with Zotero
The Help tab provides links to Zotero's Support Page as well as contact information for the Zotero librarians.
