California government documents can be divided up between executive, legislative, and judicial branches, but also include the many forms of local government found within the state. Many of these documents remain similar between contexts, such as legislative records and court dockets.
Like federal documents, state documents are also sent to depository libraries specified by law. California's three depository libraries are UC Berkeley, UCLA, and the State Library at Sacremento.
Notices of proposed regulations are published in the weekly California Regulatory Notice Register (nicknamed the Notice Register or Z Register), which is free on the website of the Office of Administrative Law.
