Information literacy can be assessed by a wide range of methodologies, both qualitative and quantitative. While each methodology has its own strengths and weaknesses, and librarians can help programs to understand their range of options, each program is best-positioned to decide for itself which tool to use. Each of the methodologies is addressed separately in this guide.
For fall 2018, the Leatherby Libraries is prepared to offer faculty direct support in using the SAILS and TATIL assessment instruments. The library can also offer advice regarding how to use other assessment methodologies. Please contact your liaison librarian to discuss your best options as you create your information literacy program learning outcomes for the 2018-2019 academic year.
