Open Courses

Thousands of free, university-level online courses and course materials that can be used or adapted into existing courses. Many have been developed by top faculty at prestigious institutions. In addition to syllabi, readings, and class assignments, many include course planning or evaluation tools.

Lumen Learning A set of open courses across a wide range of disciplines, from art to business to the humanities and sciences.
MITOpenCourseware MIT OpenCourseWare (OCW) is a web-based publication of virtually all MIT course content. OCW is open and available to the world and is a permanent MIT activity.
Open Course Library The Open Course Library is a collection of expertly developed educational materials – including textbooks, syllabi, course activities, readings, and assessments – in 81 high-enrollment college courses. The courses provide faculty with a high-quality, affordable option that will cost students no more than $30 for textbooks.
Open Culture This collection includes over 700 free courses from Stanford, Yale, MIT, Harvard, Berkeley, and more. Courses cover the liberal arts and sciences, and are downloadable to your computer or mp3 player.
Open Education Consortium Open Education Consortium is a free and open digital publication of high quality college and university‐level educational materials. These materials are organized as courses, and often include course planning materials and evaluation tools as well as thematic content.
Open Education Database The Open Education Database (OEDb) connects learners to over 10,000 free online classes. Many of these are offered by leaders in the educational community, such as UC Berkeley, MIT, and Yale University. Over 2,500 video and audio lectures and 1,200 text articles are also available outside of a course structure.
Open Learning Initiative The Open Learning Initiative (OLI) is a grant-funded group at Carnegie Mellon University, offering innovative online courses to anyone who wants to learn or teach. To use an OLI course in your classroom, simply sign up for a free instructor account.
Open University - OpenLearn A free learning platform, delivered by The Open University as part of its Royal Charter commitment to support the wellbeing of the community, that includes almost 1,000 free courses, topical and interactive content, videos and online games.
Saylor Academy Open Courses Saylor Academy is a nonprofit initiative that offers nearly 100 free and open online courses in the fields of art history, business, communication, STEM, computer science, English, history, philosophy, political science, psychology, and sociology.
